Adding to Your Facebook Page

Although many of you may be familiar with a lot of the tricks and tools Facebook offers for personalizing your page, some of you may need a refresher. Facebook has made a lot of changes in recent months to how you can link and share things on your profile or status. Here are a few useful tricks you can use to keep your Facebook page up-to-date and relevant to your customers.

1. Adding images to your photo gallery is pretty straightforward; in fact, many smartphones and cameras have apps that will automatically add your photos to your Facebook albums. But if this isn’t the case for the photos you want to add, it’s easy to add pictures manually to Facebook. First, go to your Profile, then click on Photos. You will be sent to all of your photo albums and pictures of you. At the top of your screen you will see something like this; click on the Add Photos tab:

From there, you will open a window where your photos and files are located, and you can click on as many or as few pictures as you would like to upload (CTRL + click to add multiple images). Facebook will start to add your photos, and you can add descriptions and titles, as you can see here:

And that’s all there is to it.

Sometimes you want to take one of the photos from your album and highlight it, or make sure that certain people or groups see it. Facebook’s Share feature allows you to do just that. Click on the photo you would like to share. In the bottom right corner, there is a Share button. When you click the button, you will get a pop-up window that looks like this:

You can see that there are two drop-down menus at the top of the screen; you can decide to post the photo on yours or someone else’s Timeline, in a group or on a Page, or send it in a private message. You can also decide to change the privacy settings on your photo to make it visible to the public or just to a select group of people.

What if you have an image you’d like to share, but it’s not in one of your albums? You can now link to photos in your status updates and comment on them. First, click on the Add Photo/Video button next to Update Status. You will see some added boxes that look like this:

From here you can choose to upload a photo from your computer, create an album for your friends or customers, or use your webcam to add a photo or video. Once you’ve decided on a photo, you will get a screen that looks like this:

Simply add a comment, description, and check your privacy settings, and then you can post your photo the same way you would post a status update. Now you can are ready to add photos and albums to your Facebook page. Have fun!
